Once you’ve decided to rent out your condo or home, here are some basic things to do:
√ Use a realtor to find and qualify tenants – it is worth the cost for better results
√ Repair any items before new tenant move ins. Tenants will take better care of your investment!
√ Take pictures of the unit before a tenant moves in
√ Have all manuals (appliances, association, etc.) in one place for the tenant
√ Have contact information for the association, you and/or your property manager along with emergency #s
√ Put 5 year batteries in smoke detectors
√ Ditto on the carbon monoxide detector
√ Repair things quickly
And consider hiring a property manager – having someone to make appointments so that you and your tenant don’t need to take time from work is a big plus!
