This summer, opportunity knocked and I answered! I did some project work for an elderly couple that was selling their home – their 4 adult children couldn’t help because they were all remote. This has opened up a new aspect of my business for which I charge hourly – here is what I’ve undertaken in the last 4 months:
House for Sale/Elderly Owners:
- Removed old underground oil tank/had new temporary one installed above ground
- Asbestos remediated with certification for new owners
- Sold outdoor furniture and other household goods on Facebook (100% to owner)
- Had rugs and furniture professionally valued
- Shipped some family “heirlooms” (including a chair!)
- Donated items to Habitat for Humanity – photographed and arranged pickup
- Had “junk” hauled away
- Readied for fire inspection/scheduled/met inspector
- Professionally cleaned
Condo Damage Repair for Rental/Owner Remote in France:
- Water damaged laminate floor removed, dried and mold remediated
- Dishwasher replaced
- Utilities re-activated
- Replacement of flooring
- Repair of 2 leaking toilets which caused ceiling damage – repaired
- Screen door replaced
- Bee hole repaired
- Wall damage repaired and repainted
- Bi-fold doors repaired
- Fan light kit replaced
- Sink stopper unclogged and replaced
- Showers/tubs re-caulked
- Storage shed emptied
- Patio cleaned/removed old items
- Filed Landlord Registration with township
- Readied for fire inspection/scheduled/met inspector
- Professionally cleaned
Condo prepped for Rent/Owner Moved to Australia:
- Analyzed items needing repair
- Arranged hazardous waste pickup
- Repairs to hot water heater and electrical
- HWH inspections arranged and handled
- Filed Landlord Registration with township
- Readied for fire inspection/made arrangements/met inspector
- Had screen door repaired
- Reset garage door remotes and keypad
- Sent mail to owner
- Met new tenant for walk through/key handover
